Shin Splints from Cardio Intervals
Started doing sprint intervals for fat loss and my shins feel like they are fracturing. Is this an adaptation or structural issue?

Medial tibial stress syndrome. Stop running on asphalt immediately if you are a heavy lifter.

Train your tibialis anterior! Do tibialis raises against a wall (3 sets of 20). Deceleration forces are overpowering the tissue.

Switch to low-impact conditioning. Airdyne bike or rowing handles intervals without structural compression pounding.

Check your footwear. Flat lifting shoes offer zero shock dissipation for high-velocity conditioning work.

Guilty as charged. I ran in my Converse shoes on concrete.

Ouch! That is an absolute recipe for stress fractures. Stop that right now.

Get actual running shoes with proper arch mechanics and move to a grass field or track loop.

Better yet, stick to the assault bike. Heavy guys shouldn't sprint unless their structural base handles it.

Stretch out your tight soleus muscles too. Stiff calves compound shin shock drastically.
